FAQ

Does VanRooms require homologation?
No. VanRooms is a fully removable module that is not permanently integrated with the vehicle’s structure. Therefore, it does not change the classification of the vehicle and does not require homologation or re-registration.

Does installing VanRooms require modifications to the van?
No. VanRooms is installed without drilling, welding, or making permanent changes to the bodywork. Installation and removal take about 10–15 minutes and require no tools. Everything is installed manually.

Do I have to report it to the insurance company or registration documents?
No. VanRooms does not alter the construction or legal purpose of the vehicle.

Do I need to re-register the vehicle or pay excise tax?
No. A van with the VanRooms module does not change its classification – no need to re-register or pay any additional fees or taxes.

Do I have to remove the modules for a vehicle inspection?
No. The inspector only checks if there are any permanent changes to the vehicle.

Will the insurance cost increase after installing VanRooms?
No. The module is considered equipment and does not change the vehicle's classification – insurance premiums remain unchanged.

How much do the modules weigh?
The kitchen and bedroom modules together weigh about ~~220 kg. This depends on the configuration, but the weight does not vary significantly. The load is almost unnoticeable for the vehicle, meaning no significant fuel consumption increase or driving difficulty.

Does installing VanRooms void the vehicle warranty?
No. Since we do not interfere with the vehicle’s original construction, the manufacturer’s warranty remains valid.

Can I drive it like a regular van?
Yes. VanRooms is completely safe and allows travel at normal speeds for this type of vehicle.

Can I access all areas like with a regular van?
Yes. We do not change the vehicle’s dimensions, so you can park and drive like any other van.

Can I use the van for work after removing the modules?
Of course. Disassembly is quick and easy – once the modules are removed, the full cargo space is available.

Will the module make it harder to sell the van later?
On the contrary – it is easier to sell a van without permanent modifications than one permanently converted into a camper.

Where can I store the VanRooms modules when not in use?
You can store them yourself (e.g., in a garage), or use our warehouse service (available optionally*).

Which vans is VanRooms compatible with?
VanRooms is available in versions compatible with L2H2 models – minimum internal dimensions: 200+ cm length, 176 cm height; to lift the roof, we recommend at least 186+ cm loading height. We can also adjust the lifting height individually. It fits vans like Renault Trafic, Opel Vivaro, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Jumper, Ford Transit.

Does VanRooms have 230V power or a battery?
The basic version includes a solar-powered energy storage. It can also be charged via a standard socket or car outlet.

Do you ship VanRooms “by courier”?
Yes. The module is delivered by van, ready for installation. You can also pick it up from us or on-site.

Can you legally sleep in a van with VanRooms in countries like France or Germany?
Yes. In most EU countries, sleeping in a vehicle is not prohibited as long as local traffic laws are not violated, it’s not done on private property without permission, and it does not pose a danger. Since VanRooms is not a permanent structure, there are no issues during roadside checks.

How to sleep legally in countries where it's forbidden?

Don’t “sleep” – “rest” as a driver – in many countries, you can sleep in a vehicle if the goal is to regain driving ability.
Use apps showing legal places – Apps like Park4Night, CamperContact, or iOverlander show legal sleeping spots and user experiences.
Use supermarket, port, or 24h station parking – These are often okay for overnight stays, especially off-season.
Rent space via platforms (e.g., Park4Night PRO) – Some people offer private lots or parking for €3–10 for legal and comfortable sleep.

Avoid:
- Places marked as prohibited (e.g., ‘No overnight stay’ signs).
- National parks.
- Setting up tables, chairs, cooking outside in restricted areas.
